A set of good hex-shank drill bits makes a useful addition to any workshop.

In a regular drill, they can be used with a 1/4" bit holder to allow quick bit changes. When switching back and forth between drilling holes and driving screws, for example, you can simply pop the bits in and out of the holder so you don’t have to keep loosening and retightening a chuck. Of course, they can also be used without a bit holder in any keyless or Jacobs chuck, permitting a firm hold with less chance of slippage than a regular round-shanked bit if the chuck isn’t fully tightened.

They also let you use an impact driver for drilling tasks, since they fit the quick-change chucks found on standard impact drivers, which don’t accept regular drill bits.

Though inexpensive, these USA-made bits offer impressive quality and performance for general-purpose work. Precisely made from high-speed steel with a titanium coating for wear and corrosion resistance, they drill clean, accurately sized holes in wood, plastics and metals with minimal run-out.

Supplied in a plastic storage case, the 14-piece set includes two 1/16" bits plus one each of 5/64", 3/32", 7/64", 1/8", 9/64", 5/32", 11/64", 3/16", 13/64", 7/32", 15/64" and 1/4" sizes.

Outstanding utility and value.
